Hope statehood is restored soon: Dr Farooq Abdullah
Ganderbal, Apr 7: National Conference (NC) President Dr Farooq Abdullah today hoped that statehood is restored soon to Jammu and Kashmir.
He also stated that his party is against the Waqf Amendment Act. Dr Farooq Abdullah defended the Speaker Legislative Assembly Abdul Rahim Rather did not allowing discussion on the Waqf Amendment Act as the matter has reached the Supreme Court.
Talking to reporters here, the NC President. “We hope that the Supreme Court will deliver Justice. He said that the visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah is a routine visit. “During his visit the Home minister will know the situation particularly along borders and hope that the statehood is restored soon,” Dr Farooq Abdullah said.
Earlier, he visited Yangoora, Ganderbal to offer condolences to the bereaved family of Mubeena Akhtar, District President of the JKNC Women’s Wing, who passed away recently. Dr Abdullah offered Fatiha Khawani and extended sympathies to the bereaved family. Remembering her contributions, he said, Mubeena Akhtar’s commitment to the party and women’s empowerment will always be remembered. On this occasion senior leader Sheikh Gayas-ul-din, Women’s Wing PP Er Sabiya Qadri, Provincial Secretary Women’s Wing Aisha Jameel, District President women’s Wing Advocate Neelofar Masood and all block presidents were also present.
Meanwhile, Dr Farooq Abdullah today addressed party functionaries, including block and halqa Presidents of Pampore constituency, at Sanat Nagar, Srinagar.
In his address, he urged the workers to stay united and continue the struggle for justice, rights, and the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood.
He said, “Over the last 10 years, people have faced immense challenges and hardships. It is our responsibility to be their voice and work tirelessly for their betterment.”Dr Abdullah also reiterated that the Omar Abdullah-led government is committed to fulfilling all promises made in the party manifesto.
One this occasion MLA Pampore Justice (Rtd) Hasnain Masoodi and other senior leaders were also present.
