Home Ministry releases Rs 20 crore to Nagaland for flood, landslide relief
New Delhi, Oct 28: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah has approved the advance release of Rs 20 crore as the second instalment of the Central share of the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) to Nagaland for 2025-26.
The funds are aimed at helping the state provide immediate relief to people affected by heavy rainfall, flash floods, and landslides during this year’s southwest monsoon. The Ministry of Home Affairs said the Centre, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and guidance of Amit Shah, remains committed to supporting state governments during natural calamities and disasters, providing both financial and logistical assistance.
During the current financial year, the Central Government has already released Rs 15,554 crore to 27 states under the SDRF and Rs 2,267.44 crore to 15 states under the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF). Additionally, Rs 4,571.30 crore has been disbursed from the State Disaster Mitigation Fund (SDMF) to 21 states and Rs 372.09 crore from the National Disaster Mitigation Fund (NDMF) to nine states. The Centre has also extended logistical support, including the deployment of NDRF, Army, and Air Force teams, to assist flood and landslide-hit states. This year’s monsoon saw the largest-ever deployment of 199 NDRF teams across 30 States and Union Territories for rescue and relief operations.
