Home Minister Amit Shah’s J&K visit assertion of authority, commitment: GM Shaheen
Srinagar, Feb 5: Janta Dal United (JDU) Party President GM Shaheen has welcomed the three-day visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, describing it as a clear assertion of the Centre’s resolve to maintain security, enforce governance, and push development in J&K.
Shaheen stated that since all critical matters of the Union Territory fall directly under the Ministry of Home Affairs, the visit carries exceptional significance. He emphasised that the Union Home Minister’s engagements will involve a thorough and uncompromising review of the prevailing security scenario, alongside a hard assessment of the implementation, performance, and accountability of Centre-sponsored schemes on the ground.
“This visit is not ceremonial. It is a message of authority, seriousness, and intent. It reflects the Centre’s zero-tolerance approach towards instability and its firm commitment to peace, law and order, and inclusive development in J&K,” Shaheen said.
The JDU President underlined that direct monitoring at the highest level is essential to ensure that security gains are consolidated and that development schemes do not remain confined to files but reach the common citizen without delay or dilution.
Shaheen added that the people of Jammu & Kashmir expect results, accountability, and sustained governance, and expressed confidence that the visit will accelerate decision-making, strengthen security mechanisms, and reinforce public confidence in the administrative system. Notably, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is on a visit to Jammu and Kashmir from Thursday.
