Home Minister Amit Shah follows PM on campaign trail in Jammu region
Jammu, Sep 15: Following trail-blazing rally of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Doda on September 14, Bharatiya Janata Party’s another star-campaigner and the Union Home Minister Amit Shah is arriving tomorrow to maintain momentum of the party's high-octane campaign in Chenab Valley.
BJP Spokesperson and Media Centre Incharge Arun Kumar Gupta, while sharing the schedule of the Union Home Minister in a presser here, said that he (Shah) would address three rallies tomorrow at Ramban, Kishtwar and Padder.
Tomorrow is the last day for electioneering for the first phase of J&K assembly polls.
Eight seats of three districts of Chenab Valley, in Jammu region, are going to polls in the first phase on September 18.
This will be Amit Shah’s second visit to Jammu region. Earlier, he made a two-day visit i.e., September 6 and 7, to Jammu.
On September 6, he released the party's manifesto and held deliberations with the party leaders strategising for J&K assembly elections in the evening. On September 7, he addressed a large convention of party workers in Jammu city.
Besides, the Union Home Minister, party’s national president and the Union Minister for Health J P Nadda will also visit Jammu on September 20.
This was revealed by the Union Minister and J&K Election In-charge G Kishan Reddy, while speaking to media persons here. He stated that the party president Nadda would visit Jammu to give further boost to the party campaign. “It is very likely that our party president will hold a road show in Jammu to galvanise party rank and file,” he said.
Reddy reiterated that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi would also visit the region for campaigning in the second and third phase. Besides, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh would also campaign in the second and third phase, Reddy said, adding that the party was all set to form the next government in J&K after assembly polls.
BJP Spokesperson and Media Centre Incharge Arun Kumar Gupta, while announcing the schedule of Union home Minister, also said, “BJP is getting overwhelming response from the people across J&K and will form a government with majority.”
Gupta said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP was contesting the elections based on the revolutionary steps taken over the last ten years for peace, development, and prosperity.
“BJP is the only party presenting a comprehensive manifesto focused on public welfare. The party is reaching out to the people with its development agenda, while other parties are misleading the people with hollow promises, aiming to push Jammu & Kashmir back into an era of unrest and turmoil,” he said.
In the last assembly elections in 2014, BJP had won four seats out of six constituencies of three districts in Chenab valley. The party had won both seats of Doda district and one each from Kishtwar and Ramban districts.
Following delimitation, now there are eight assembly constituencies in Chenab valley, three each in Doda, Kishtwar districts and two in Ramban district. Two segments, one each in Doda and Kishtwar, have been added in delimitation.
BJP has fielded Daleep Singh Parihar from Bhaderwah, Gajay Singh Rana from Doda and Shakti Parihar from Doda West in Doda district; Sunil Sharma from Padder Nagseni, Shagun Parihar from Kishtwar and Tariq Keen from Inderwal in Kishtwar district and Salim Bhat from Banihal and Rakesh Singh Thakur from Ramban constituencies of Ramban district.
