Home Deptt appoints Advocate Sumeet Koul as Special Public Prosecutor for holding SIA, UAPA cases

Srinagar, Nov 21: The J&K Home Department Thursday appointed Advocate Sumeet Koul as Special Public Prosecutor for conducting prosecution of SIA and UAPA cases in the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

As per the notification issued by the Home Department, the appointment has been made in the exercise of the powers conferred under Section 18 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita 2023.

“The government in consultation with the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh hereby appoints Sumeet Koul, Advocate as Special Public Prosecutor for conducting prosecution of SIA and UAPA cases in the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh,” the notification reads. “The terms and the conditions of the appointment of the Special Public Prosecutor will be governed in terms of the Government Order No 308-Home of 2024 dated July 12, 2204.”
