Hokersar hosts grand welcome for Kargil Vijay Diwas bike rally

Srinagar, Jul 20: The Kargil Vijay Diwas Bike Rally, featuring 26 women bikers from the Shakti Udghosh Foundation, received a rousing welcome at Hokersar, HMT, in Srinagar on Sunday.

As per a statement issued, the Pad Yatra and Bike Rally were flagged off yesterday from Jammu to commemorate Kargil Vijay Diwas.

A group of 26 female bikers from the Shakti Udghosh Foundation are participating in this inspiring rally to honour the valour of the Indian Army during Operation Vijay (1999) and to raise awareness about Operation Sindoor, launched in May this year.

The rally was welcomed with flower showers, a symbolic plantation drive (where each tree was planted in the name of ek ped maan ke naam), and a Swachh Bharat cleanliness campaign, reinforcing messages of environmental responsibility and respect for motherhood.

The event witnessed the presence of several dignitaries and youth leaders, including Pradeep Kumar, Deputy Director, MY Bharat Srinagar, Dr Syed Tariq, I/C, J&K Biodiversity Council-Kashmir and Forest Research Station Haran, Jammu and Kashmir Forest Research Institute; Rahil Riyaz Ahmed, TOT, MY Bharat J&K, Dr Muntazir Mehdi; Inam Hussain, Chairman, Khelo Kashmir; and Muntazir Owais, Chairman, Graceful Star Trust.

Notable speeches were delivered by DD Srinagar Pradeep Kumar, Dr Syed Tariq, Ms Preeti Choudhary, and Rahi Reyaz Ahmad from the Shakti Udghosh Foundation, and other distinguished guests, highlighting the significance of women’s participation in nation-building and youth-led initiatives in Kashmir.

The successful coordination of the welcome event was led by prominent youth leaders, including Nazakat Ahmad, Zubair Choudhary, Zahid Hussain, Muzamil Hussain, and Mohammad Yaseen, who ensured active community involvement and local support.

The rally continues to spread messages of patriotism, peace, and progress as it moves forward in remembrance of the brave hearts of Kargil.
