Hockey J&K frames new body, Gurdeep Singh named president
Srinagar, Jun 2: Elections for Hockey J&K were held in Srinagar under the supervision of the J&K Sports Council and Hockey India, resulting in the election of Gurdeep Singh as the new president.
As per a statement issued on Monday, the process was conducted in a fair and transparent manner and also saw the formation of a new executive body to lead the sport's development in the region.
Sekar J Manmohan, Treasurer of Hockey India, was the observer deputed by Hockey India, and Musbat Ismail, Deputy Legal Remembrancer, was deputed as the Returning Officer for the conduct of fair and smooth elections by J&K Sports Council, along with Goutam Shukla present as the observer of J&K Sports Council. The elections were held in a very congenial atmosphere.
Speaking on the occasion, Observer from Hockey India Sekar J. Manmohan said that Indian hockey is doing its best, and as of now, no other field game association is performing like Hockey India. Right now 4 teams are in Europe and Argentina. He congratulated the new team of Hockey J&K and assured them of all possible support to promote hockey in J&K.
Musbat Ismail returning officer, while congratulating the elected team, said that she expects the new team to work for the promotion of the game with the support of JKSC.
Gurdeep Singh, President of Hockey J&K, thanked the participants and Hockey India and J&K Sports Council for conducting elections.
The office bearers elected in the Hockey J&K elections were Gurdeep Singh as President, Jameel Mustafa and Sanjeev Kumar as Senior Vice Presidents, Manjeet Singh, Manbeer Kour, Amarjeet Singh Nangyal, and Jasvinder Kour as vice Presidents, Dr Taran Singh as Secretary General, Tejinder Singh as Secretary, Raja Fazal Abass and Shaista Shafi as Joint Secretaries, Raviraj Singh as Treasurer, Baljeet Kour and Ranbir Singh as Resident Secretaries, and Binod Singh, Shelav Sharma, Sandeep Malhotra, Rinkal, Sheikh Tanveer Ul Haq, Robin Singh, and Magandeep Sudan as executive members.
