Baramulla, Feb 12: To streamline the healthcare services and ensure optimal utilisation of human resources, the Administrative Secretary of Health and Medical Education, Syed Abid Rashid Shah Monday stressed the necessity of conducting a comprehensive audit of health institutions and their associated human resources.

Addressing media inquiries regarding the non-functional status of certain health centres across north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, Shah said that there was a need for a thorough examination of health institutions constructed in potential violation of guidelines set by the Health and Family Welfare Department.

“If there are two health institutions established within a distance of 1.5 km, it is a violation of guidelines,” he said.

Shah said that such proximity between health facilities not only contravenes established guidelines but also poses challenges in providing trained human resources and meeting other essential requirements of a healthcare institution.

Highlighting the adverse impact on patient care and overall welfare, he stressed the urgency of conducting audits to assess the functionality and adherence to regulations of existing health assets.

“We can’t set up two health institutions within a distance of 1.5 km. This way, patient care and welfare are badly affected. We need to conduct audits of such health assets so that our trained human resources are utilised in the right direction,” he said.
