Kangan, Sep 6: Three Kashmiri labourers who lost their lives in a mudslide in Himachal Pradesh’s Kullu district were laid to rest in their native villages in Kangan of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.

The bodies were transported to Chandigarh from Kullu and where from they were airlifted to Srinagar and reached homes of the slain persons in Kangan around 10 am on Saturday . Hundreds of people attended the Nimaz-e-Jinaza of the deceased. The funerals were held in Ari Gooripora Kangan and Kajpara Kangan, where the victims were buried with eyes filled with tears and hearts heavy with grief.

MLA Gurez Nazir Ahmad Gurezi and SDM Kangan Nazir Ahmad also attended the funeral of the three labourers and later visited their residence for condolences.

National Conference leader and MLA Gurez Nazir Ahmad Gurezi said that they are thankful to the Kullu administration including local MLA, the Chief Secretary and Deputy Commissioner Kullu also the Chief Minsiter and Deputy Chief Minister Jammu and Kashmir for their efforts and help to transport and bring back the bodies to their homes in Kangan.

Meanwhile, National Convener of JKSA, Nasir Khumeni said that the mortal remains of three Kashmiri workers, who tragically lost their lives in the Kullu landslide in Himachal Pradesh, have been respectfully repatriated. “Out of the seven deceased workers, three bodies were recovered and were initially being transported in load carriers. We immediately raised this issue with the Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister’s Office and Chief Secretary, Prabodh Saxena, who intervened without delay. The transportation by road was immediately stopped, and arrangements were made to airlift the remains with dignity,” he said.
