HIMACHAL LANDSLIDE: Body of 4th labourer reaches home in Kangan; 2 more bodies recovered
Kangan, Sep 7: One more body of a Kashmiri labourer who lost his life in a landslide in Himachal Pradesh’s Kullu district reached Kangan where he was laid to rest amid grief.
Earlier three bodies were transported to Chandigarh from Kullu and where from they were airlifted to Srinagar and reached home in Kangan around 10 am on Saturday . Hundreds of people attended the Nimaz e Jinaza of the fourth deceased. The funerals were held in Gonchi mohalla Kangan with hundreds of mourners attending. The deceased identified as Mohd Hussain was buried with eyes filled with tears and hearts heavy with grief.
MLA Kangan Mian Mehar Ali, SDM Kangan Nazir Ahmad also visited his residence for condolences. With this four bodies have been brought back home and two more dead bodies have been recovered on Sunday taking the death toll in the landslide incident to six .
Pertinently, the incident occurred on Thursday in Akhada Bazaar area of Kullu following heavy rains, when a massive mudslide struck a rented house. Seven Kashmiri labourers actually hailing from Tulail area of Gurez presently residing in Kangan were trapped under the debris. One was rescued injured while three dead bodies were recovered on Friday and were sent to their native places. On Saturday two more bodies have been recovered and on Sunday one more body of another labourer Gulzar Ahmad was recovered. The locals have urged the Jammu and Kashmir government to provide immediate help including exgratia relief in favour of the victims .
