Higher reaches in J-K likely to receive snow from tomorrow: MeT
Srinagar, Jan 15: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar on Thursday forecast light rain and snow at scattered places of Jammu and Kashmir from January 16. It also predicted moderate to heavy rain and snow over Chenab Valley, Udhampur and Reasi districts and south Kashmir during January 23-24.
The MeT in its latest weather alert predicted rains and snow at several isolated and scattered places of Jammu and Kashmir, stating the weather will likely remain generally cloudy with light rain and snow at scattered places on January 16.
It said that during January 17-18, there will be partly to generally cloudy weather with light snow at isolated higher reaches, while from January 19-20 there is a possibility of light rain and snow at scattered to fairly widespread places of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. It added that few higher reaches of north and central Kashmir may receive moderate snowfall in the meanwhile.
On January 21 there is a possibility of partly to generally cloudy weather with light snow at isolated higher reaches, while as from January 22-24, there will be generally cloudy with light to moderate rain and snow at most places of J&K.
Further there is a possibility of moderate to heavy rain and snow over few districts of Chenab valley, Udhampur and Reasi, and south Kashmir during January 23-24, the advisory said.
From January 25-26 there is a possibility of cloudy with light rain and snow at isolated to scattered places, it added.
The advisory highlighted that moderate to dense fog over plains of Jammu division to continue during next two days; and advised travelers to plan their travel accordingly in view of wet spell during January 23 and 24. Besides the weather department urged for sticking to travel advisories from administration and traffic department.
