Helicopter service pressed into service in Karnah to airlift 21 persons
Kupwara, Feb 5: District administration Kupwara Monday arranged helicopter service for the second time in a week for border town Karnah and evacuated 4 patients and a child along with their attendants from snow-bound Karnah Sub Division to Kupwara. The patients needed advanced treatment, following which a helicopter service was arranged by the district administration much to the relief of those in need.
A total of 10 individuals were transported from Kupwara to Tangdhar, all in need of advanced medical care, in two separate air sorties.
Pertinently, the Chowkibal-Karnah road remained closed for the consecutive fifth day due to which people, especially patients were subjected to severe hardships and the helicopter service came as major relief for them.
Meanwhile district administration in a statement said that “Responding with agility to urgent medical needs, authorities in Kupwara facilitated the airlifting of 21 individuals, which included four patients and a child, from Karnah to the district headquarters on Monday”.
“In a meticulously executed operation, eleven individuals were airlifted from Tangdhar to Kupwara, among them were four patients requiring immediate medical attention. Additionally, 10 individuals were transported from Kupwara to Tangdhar, all in need of advanced medical care, in two separate air sorties” reads the statement.
“This swift and well-coordinated intervention underscores the resolute commitment of local authorities to ensuring expedited medical assistance reaches those in remote regions, particularly amidst challenging weather conditions” reads the statement further.
