Srinagar, Jan 01: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar today forecast fresh spell of snow from today evening. It said the snowy weather conditions will continue intermittently till January 6th, with peak activity during January 4th night to January 5th late night.

However it said the weather will improve from January 6th late afternoon.

Till January 2nd, the J&K is likely hit by feeble western disturbance with weather conditions generally cloudy with light snow at scattered places during January 1st evening/night to January 2nd forenoon, the official said.

He said on January 3rd, there is a possibility of generally cloudy weather with light snow at isolated higher reaches.

The Jammu and Kashmir will likely be hit by moderate to strong western disturbance from January 4th to 6th, with weather conditions generally cloudy with light to moderate rain (plains of Jammu), and snow at most places of J&K with peak activity during January 4th night to January 5th late night, with improvement from January 6th later afternoon, the official said.

There is a possibility of heavy snow at isolated higher reaches during January 4th to 6th, he added,

He also said that from January 7th to 10th, there is a possibility of cloudy with dry weather conditions.

In view of fresh snowfall, sub-freezing temperature and icy conditions over raods (plains and higher reaches), the tourists, travelers and transporters are advised to plan accordingly and follow advisories of administration and traffic department, the official advised.
