Heat Wave | Several students demand summer vacations in Rajouri
Rajouri, May 27: A number of students of Rajouri district have requested Jammu and Kashmir School Education Department (SED) to announce summer vacations in education institutions keeping in view the present heat wave and abrupt rise in temperature.
The rise in temperature, students said, is taking a toll on their lives as students in rural areas have to trek kilometres together from their house to school and vice versa.
Most of the students studying in middle standard, high standard and higher secondary standard can also be seen carrying umbrella to protect themselves from strong sunlight and heat conditions.
" A sudden rise in temperature has taken place in Rajouri areas during last one week and this abrupt rise has badly affected life of every individual," the locals and parents of students including Yogesh Sasan, Vipan Sharma and others said.
They said that students are facing immense hardships in going to schools especially in rural areas for which the government should immediately order summer vacations.
Many students who were seen carrying umbrellas while returning from school also narrated their plight stating that heatwave is badly affecting their studies and it is becoming difficult for them especially to return from schools in mid afternoon hours.
