Healing with Heart: Madina Enclave residents seek measures for safeguarding locality
Srinagar, Jul 10: President Welfare Committee, Madina Enclave, Rawalpora, Prof Masood-ul-Hassan Balkhi on Thursday expressed concern over the growing commercialisation of the residential colony, saying it is proving a source of discomfort for the residents.
In a statement issued here, Prof Balkhi, on behalf of the inhabitants of the area, appealed to the concerned government bodies, especially the Srinagar Municipality Corporation, to take immediate measures.
“The colony has been established strictly on a residential basis, and it’s laid down in the very norms that no commercial activity will be allowed, but still some elements are installing commercial units,” he said.
“However, we have no objection whatsoever if any activity is confined to some particular household with no effect or discomfort for its immediate neighbourhood. Installing heavy machines and units is becoming a source of nuisance for the public, and many applications have been filed in the concerned government offices, but no action has been taken so far in this regard,” the statement said. “WCME has urged once again to rise to the occasion so that the colony is rendered safe and healthy for the residents.”
