Srinagar, Apr 03: Minister for Education, Health, and Social Welfare Sakina Itoo assured that concerns of employees dependent on the Hospital Development Fund (HDF) will be addressed if financial allocations are increased.

Speaking to reporters about the role of her party and the challenges surrounding the HDF, Itoo emphasized that the fund is a local initiative, and allocations are based on the resources available to the department.

“HDF is a local fund. Whatever is available to the department is given to workers. If funds increase, things will get better accordingly,” she said when asked about the government’s approach to tackling unemployment, particularly for those reliant on the HDF.

The HDF, aimed at improving healthcare services, has been under scrutiny due to financial constraints affecting workers dependent on its allocations. The minister reiterated that any increase in funds would create more opportunities to support these employees.

When questioned about the agenda of an upcoming meeting chaired by Chief Minister and party Vice President Omar Abdullah, Itoo declined to disclose details. “I cannot reveal the agenda, but it is a routine meeting by our leader Omar Abdullah to discuss prevailing issues with the members,” she said.
