Srinagar, Feb 18: Hazratbal team emerged victorious in the COSCO T-10 Cricket Tournament as the event, organised under the Civic Action Programme (CAP) 2024-25, concluded on Tuesday with an intense final at Green Valley Educational Institute (GVEI), Srinagar.

As per a press release issued, SP Hazratbal Hilal Khaliq Bhat was the chief guest at the occasion, while Ashiq Hussain Malik, SDPO Hazratbal, Ashiq Hussain Dar, SDPO Zakura, and other senior officers were also present at the occasion.

The final showdown featured Hazratbal and Butpora, with Butpora winning the toss and electing to bat first.

They set a total of 76 runs in 10 overs, losing eight wickets in the inning.

While chasing the target, Hazratbal's team showcased their strong batting prowess, chased the target in 9.3 overs, and clinched the title of the tournament.

The tournament was designed to promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and a spirit of healthy competition among young players, offering them a platform to display their cricketing talent.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, SP Hazratbal Hilal Khaliq Bhat congratulated all the participants and encouraged them to maintain a physically active and disciplined lifestyle.

He also assured continued efforts to provide more sporting opportunities for the youth.

Principal of GVEI Riyaz Ahmad Kathjoo expressed his pride in hosting such an event and reiterated the school's commitment to supporting sports initiatives.

He emphasised that, with the collaboration of the Physical Education Department, the institute will continue to nurture young athletes and promote a culture of healthy competition.
