Happy to see my son free after 5 years: Engineer Rashid’s father

Kupwara, Sep 10: Father of Member of Parliament Engineer Rashid Tuesday thanked the judiciary for granting bail to his son and expressed hope of his permanent release.

Khazir Muhammad Sheikh, who is in his eighties told Greater Kashmir that he was relieved and grateful that the court had granted bail to his son.

“It has been an incredibly challenging five years for our family, and the prospect of finally seeing him again brings immense joy to me and his mother,” he said.

“However, we are disheartened that his interim release has been limited to just 20 days. This brief period does not adequately address the distress and hardship our family has endured. My son has been wrongfully targeted and is a victim of political vendetta. His service as a public representative, including two terms as MLA, underscores his commitment to the community and his dedication to public service,” Sheikh said. “In light of these circumstances, I urge the court to extend his release and to dismiss all charges framed against him. It is crucial for justice and fairness that he should be fully exonerated and allowed to reunite with his family without further undue hardships.”

Meanwhile Rashid’s brother Shiekh Khursheed, who is the contesting candidate for Langate assembly segment, also thanked the judiciary for giving Rashid interim bail.

He said that Rashid’s presence would make a huge impact on the ground because people across Kashmir love and respect him.
