Srinagar, Nov 17: Continuing its vigorous ‘Know Your Artisan’ campaign, Handicrafts and Handloom Department, is set to host a three-day ‘Artisan Carnival’, a vibrant celebration of Kashmir’s timeless crafts and cultural legacy at the Chinar-draped Sher-e-Kashmir Park, here, from November 20 to 22.

A statement of the Handicrafts and Handloom Department, Kashmir, issued here said that as a flagship event under the ‘Soulful Kashmir’ branding initiative, the three-day event will bring together over 30 master artisans from across the valley, showcasing the finest of Kashmiri handicrafts and handlooms under one roof.

The statement said that visitors would be treated to niche handicrafts and handloom products made by the ‘Golden Hands’ of Kashmir artisans, including Shilp Gurus, Padma Shris, and national and UT awardees.

“LIVE demos of iconic crafts like Sozni and Crewel embroidery, Pashmina and Kani weaving, Papier-mâché, copperware Kandkari, willow work, and tweed making will be on display,” he said, adding that ‘Meet the Masters’ interactive sessions will be another highlight of the event.

The artisan carnival is part of the larger ‘Soulful Kashmir’ campaign, which aims to revive, promote, and provide sustainable market linkages to the region’s legendary artisans while offering visitors an immersive experience.

“Kashmir’s crafts are not just products, but centuries-old stories woven by the golden hands. This carnival is our tribute to the artisans who keep these traditions alive and an invitation to all craft lovers to discover the real soul of Kashmir,” he said.
