Hajin residents protest over drinking water shortage
Bandipora, Mar 03: Hajin residents in north Kashmir's Bandipora district hit the streets on Monday to protest over drinking water shortage.
The residents said that Hajin town, including Mir Mohallah, Danger Mohallah, Bonikhan, Parray Mohallah, and several other areas, are facing a severe drinking water crisis.
The protesters which included women briefly blocked the market road to press for the immediate redressal of their demand.
They said the administration had promised them they would restore the supply by Sunday evening but the issue of water shortage persisted.
They said the shortage of drinking water was causing them inconvenience in Ramdhan month.
The residents appealed to Deputy Commissioner Bandipora to resolve the issue at the earliest.
Notably, the Hajin areas facing water shortage were affected due to road collapse on Wednesday, which had damaged the water supply lines too.
