Gusty winds wreak havoc in Ramban district, damage rooftops of residential houses, school buildings

Srinagar, Mar 02: The rooftops of several residential houses and schools buildings have been blown up as gusty winds wreaked havoc in Ramban and Anantnag districts of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday.

Reports said that gusty winds wreaked havoc in many areas of Banihal and Ramsoo sub-divisions in Ramban district since last night.

They said that rooftop of High Schook Kumla Trigam in Khari tehsil was torn off by strong winds, while in Chaka Sarbagni in Ramsoo, rooftosp of several houses have been damaged due to strong winds.

They also said that residential houses of Nazir Ahmad Zargar and Nasrullah Katoch have been severely damaged due to the storm.

Many vehicles parked on roads in Khari tehsil were hit by falling trees, causing damages.

As per images shared on social media, rooftops of several residential houses were damaged due to windstorm in Verinag area of Anantnag district.

Pertinently, the Meteorological Department in its fresh weather advisory had said that few places in Jammu and Kashmir may experience thunder, lightening, hailstorm accompanied by gusty winds with 30-40 KMPH speed during 1st and 2nd March.
