Gusty winds damage several structures, vehicles in Kupwara
Kupwara, Jul 11: Gusty winds on Friday evening caused havoc in the Kralgund area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
The winds, which lasted for almost 20 minutes, caused damage to rooftops and several vehicles.
Locals said that the winds started at about 8 pm, causing substantial damage to structures.
They said that several cars parked in the Kralgund market were badly damaged due to the collapse of the rooftops and electric poles.
Locals said that the rooftops were swept away in the main market, blocking traffic movement on the Kralgund-Ashpora road.
Additionally, multiple electric cables, rooftops, and other infrastructure were damaged in the area, resulting in a complete disruption of the power supply.
Later, a Police party arrived at the spot and started restoration of traffic movement.
A few residential houses were also damaged in Niechihama village in Rajwar, Handwara, due to strong winds.
Meanwhile, the district administration advised people to stay indoors to thwart any eventuality.
