The downpour sparked frustration among residents, with one Reddit user describing life in the so-called "Millennium City" as “literal hell” after falling into an uncovered drain hidden beneath floodwaters.

In a viral post titled Living in Gurgaon is literal hell, the user vented their dismay over the city’s crumbling infrastructure, revealing they had only been living there for five months but were already eager to leave.

“I’ve only been in Gurgaon for five months and it already feels like hell,” they wrote on the r/gurgaon subreddit. “Today I literally fell into a drain — no signs, no barriers, just an open hole hidden under knee-deep water. The entire stretch was flooded and I had no clue what I was stepping into.”

Roads flood like rivers, there's zero accountability, and safety is just not even a concern for the authorities," the user wrote, adding: "I'm stuck here because of a 2-year bond with my company, otherwise I'd leave this place immediately. Honestly, I'd rather work a low-paying job in a village than live in such pathetic conditions."

As the post went viral, social media users expressed sympathy and shared their own experiences, with one user recounting how they had to travel three kilometres through knee-deep gutter water.
