Jammu, Feb 24: 647th Parkash Utsav of Sant Shiromani Guru Ravi Dass Ji Maharaj was celebrated at Gurudwara Shri Guru Ravi Dass Ji Krishna Nagar Jammu with religious fervour and festivity on Saturday.

The festival celebrations were organised under the chairmanship of Piran Ditta president All J&K Guru Ravi Dass Sabha, Krishna Nagar Jammu. Raman Bhalla, former minister and working president of JKPCC was the chief guest on this occasion and B R Kundal, ex-minister was the guest of honour.

Besides, Neeraj Kundan CWC member and NSUI former president, Rajesh Wazir general secretary and president Hotel Association and Ranjot Singh Nalwa, BJP Minority Cell chairman were also present.

Bhalla and Kundal also paid floral tribute to Guru ji and stressed the need of unity and brotherhood. Several leaders of the political parties and social organisations paid a visit to the temple and attended the function.

Earlier Sangat from all parts of Jammu province reached Gurudwara Krishna Nagar to seek the blessings of Guru Sahib, along with families. Gurudwara Bhawan was elegantly decorated by Sabha. Dharmic Dewan and Shardhanjali Samaroh started at 11 am with Bhajan Kirtan.

Children also presented cultural programmes encompassing dances and bhajans which were highly admired by sangat. Renowned singers from different parts of J&K UT and from Punjab paid their homage to Guru Ravidass Ji through their Bhakti Sangeet.

Speaking on this occasion, president Piran Ditta threw light on the life and mission of Guru Ravi Dass Ji. He said, “His teachings motivate us to stand for truth and to be kind to human beings. Today, we have the opportunity on his Prakash Utsav to spread his pious teachings and be united. Our samaj is duty bound to save the constitution of India-given to us by Bharat Ratna Baba Sahib Dr B R Ambedkar. Any attempt to change the constitution will be fought tooth and nail by Dalit Samaj of India. Message of equality, brotherhood will be taken from town to town and this will be a real homage to Guru Ravi Dass Ji.”
