Guru Hargobind ji’s birth anniversary celebrated with religious fervour
Srinagar, June 22: The birth anniversary of Guru Hargobind ji, the sixth Guru of the Sikh community, was celebrated with religious fervour across Kashmir.
Religious places of the Sikh community were full of devotees as people thronged Gurduwaras across the valley.
The main function was held at Chatti Padshahi Gurudwara, where besides prayers, prominent Sikh clerics delivered sermons on the auspicious occasion. The religious leaders from the community extended their greetings on the occasion.
“This is an important occasion for the whole of Kashmir as we celebrate the birth anniversary of our 6th Guru, Guru Hargobind Sahib, on the day. The whole community across the valley assembled at Chatti Padshahi Gurudwara and participated in all the religious functions. Our Guru travelled across the world and spread his teaching and he also came to Kashmir which makes the event even more important. Today we are preaching the same teaching of love, brotherhood, and peace. We pray for the prosperity of Kashmir,” one of the Sikh religious leaders at the Gurudwara said.
The celebrations were also held in other city Gurduwaras located at Amira Kadal, Jawahar Nagar, Allochibagh, Barzulla, Rangreth, while celebrations were held across north and south Kashmir Gurduwaras including Pulwama, Baramulla, Jammu and Ladakh.
Devotees paid obeisance in various Gurdwaras throughout the day and offered special prayers.
“This is an important occasion for our community, and we are glad that everyone was able to participate and pray for peace and prosperity in Kashmir. Our Kashmiri brothers from other religions also greeted us and visited us on the occasion. We are very proud of our unity and brotherhood, which make our festivals even more special,” said Pardeep Singh, a devotee.
Meanwhile, the administration had made special arrangements for the occasions, and multiple departments, including police, SMC ensure all facilities to the devotees. “Assistance from the administration ensured that we celebrated our festival without any inconvenience,” said a devotee.
