Gurez-Bandipora road closes temporarily
Bandipora, Nov 15: The 85-km Gurez-Bandipora road was once again closed for traffic on Friday after fresh snowfall.
Officials said that the road was temporarily closed in the morning after fresh snowfall on Razdan Top and would remain closed till further orders.
The officials said that only stranded vehicles on the road were allowed to proceed towards their destinations.
The Razdan Top observed fresh snowfall in the morning, triggering the closure, officials said.
In the evening too, around 3-inch fresh snow had draped the area.
The road was closed on Tuesday evening after snowfall on Razdan Top following which authorities had to resort to overnight rescue operations to help at least 20 stranded vehicles and the passengers, including an ambulance.
The rescue operation involved administration, J&K Police, Army, and 56-RCC Beacon.
The road later opened on Wednesday afternoon.
The authorities have also issued an advisory for travel on the road, with skid chains being mandatory for vehicles.
They have also advised commuters to check the road status before planning the commute to or from the valley.
