Gunfight erupts in forests of north Kashmir's Kupwara
Srinagar, Nov 12: A firefight has started between militants and the security forces in Nagmarg forest area of north Kashmir's Kupwara, reports said Tuesday.
An official said, militants first fired heavily upon the forces, which was retaliated by Kupwara police and army.
He said, the operation is taking place on the boundary lines of Kupwara and Bandipora in north of Kashmir, and that the 26 Assam rifles of Indian army are positioned from the Bandipora side in-case the militants try to move over there.
The latest reports suggest, security forces are conducting the operation on both sides, that is from Kupwara and as well as from the forests of Bandipora, GK correspondent Syed Rizwan Geelani reported.
