Gulmarg Citizens Forum meets CM, seeks amendment to SRO 65
Srinagar, Aug 29: A delegation of the Gulmarg Citizens Forum today called on Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and submitted a memorandum seeking urgent amendment to SRO 65 of 2019.
A statement said that the delegation expressed concern over the inclusion of 33 Tangmarg villages under the jurisdiction of the Gulmarg Development Authority (GDA), saying the move has created confusion, administrative overlap, and weakened the Panchayati Raj system. They urged the Government to bring these villages under Government Order No. 11 of 2022 issued by the Rural Development Department, which empowers Rural Development Officers to approve the construction of residential houses.
The Forum also raised key developmental demands, including prioritising the construction of the Poonch–Lohran Road and expediting work on the Gulmarg Corridor project to enhance connectivity and tourist infrastructure.
The Chief Minister assured the delegation that the issues raised would be carefully examined and reaffirmed his Government’s commitment to balanced regional development and strengthening of rural governance.
