GST enforcement team realises Rs 2.6 crore penalties from violators in South Kashmir

Srinagar, Dec 7: In a record achievement vis-a-vis tax violations, the GST Enforcement Team South Kashmir has imposed penalties worth Rs. 2.62 crore against tax violators during the ongoing financial year 2024-2025.

It is important to mention that the penalties have been realised for erring traders transporting goods in contravention of GST Act and Rules.

The tax impositions have witnessed 26% increase, compared to the previous financial year till date.

Significant increase has been witnessed with 46%, 18% and 25% growth during 1st, 2nd and 3rd Quarter as compared to the previous financial year. April, July and October 2024 witnessed growth of 182%, 113% and 28% respectively.

The enforcement drives held under the supervision of Commissioner State Taxes, P K Bhat were led by Deputy Commissioner State Taxes Enforcement South Kashmir, Waseem Raja.

The Deputy Commissioner State Taxes Enforcement South Kashmir revealed that in future the drive against tax violations will be intensified to achieve further deterrence

It was given out that high-risk commodities such as Metal Scrap, Cement, Marble, Plywood, Timber, TMT bars, Hardware Items, Motor Parts, Electrical Goods, and Readymade Garments were targeted during the drives.

In round the clock enforcement activities conducted across the four districts of South Kashmir over two lakh e-way bills were verified which shows an increase of 45% compared to previous financial year 2023-2024 from April to November.
