New Delhi, May 7: In the wake of India’s latest counter-terror operations across the border, the Grand Mufti of India, Sheikh Abubakr Ahmad, has called for national unity and moral clarity in the fight against terrorism, urging all citizens to stand firmly with the country. Commending the government’s response following the Pahalgam terror attack, the Grand Mufti said India’s actions against terrorist infrastructure reflect “the country’s strength, sovereignty, and its unwavering commitment to protect humanity.”

“India’s actions are essential in putting an end to the unrest caused by extremist forces in South Asia, including Kashmir,” he said in a public statement issued.

The Grand Mufti highlighted the global stakes of the fight against terrorism, suggesting India could play a larger international role through “principled diplomacy and firm action.” He added: “India can lead more comprehensive and effective initiatives in this fight. Its strategic and diplomatic efforts are key to strengthening global peace.” Calling for broad public support, the Grand Mufti appealed to the conscience of all citizens: “It is the moral responsibility of all who believe in peace and human dignity to stand with the nation in this struggle.”

His remarks come amid heightened national security concerns and diplomatic outreach following Operation Sindoor, in which forces struck nine terrorist sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The operation followed the April 22 attack in Pahalgam that left 26 civilians dead, including one Nepali national.
