Graft case | ACB produces charge-sheet against ex-Munshi PP Chinore
Jammu, Apr 8: Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) Monday produced a charge-sheet against Selection Grade Constable (SgCt) Mohd Sultan, former Munshi, Police Post (PP) Chinore, Jammu in a trap case.
An ACB spokesperson said, “Anti Corruption Bureau produced the charge-sheet in case FIR No 03/2023 P/S ACB-Jammu U/S 7 of P C Act 1988, registered against Mohd Sultan, the then SgCt, posted as Munshi at Police Post Chinore, Jammu.”
“The case was registered on the basis of a complaint alleging therein that the Munshi of Police Post Chinore SgCt Mohd Sultan was demanding a bribe of Rs 8,000 for releasing the son of the complainant from police custody. The complainant paid Rs 4,000 out of the demanded bribe of Rs 8,000 but the accused again demanded Rs 4,000 for release of his (complainant’s) son,” the spokesperson said.
On the said complaint, ACB laid a trap and SgCt Mohd Sultan, the then Munshi, Police Post Chinore, Jammu, was caught red handed while demanding and accepting the bribe amount which was recovered from his possession in presence of independent witnesses. “After completion of investigation and obtaining sanction for prosecution from competent authority, the charge sheet was produced before the Court of Special Judge Anti-Corruption Jammu for judicial determination,” the spokesperson said.
