Govt to soon double ration of beneficiaries: Minister Satish Sharma

Jammu, Nov 23: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), Transportation, and Youth Services and Sports Satish Sharma Saturday said that the government would soon double the ration quota of the beneficiaries while the LPG cylinder quote would be doubled in a couple of months.

Addressing a public meeting convened in the Pallanwala area of Chammb assembly constituency of Akhnoor subdivision of Jammu district, he said, “The ration of beneficiaries will be doubled soon while the quota of cylinders will be doubled in a couple of months.”

Sharma said that the government would conduct a fresh survey of the Below Poverty Line (BPL) people and other ration cards.

“The government is going to conduct a fresh survey of ration cards, especially BPL cards,” he said.

Sharma said that the relaxation of age in the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services examination had been taken up by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and it was going to benefit the aspirants on a mass scale.

He said that the government had also recommended a proposal for age relaxation in the recruitment of sub-inspectors and constables of Police and the decision would be taken by the Lieutenant Governor.

Discussing the problem of shortage of teachers, doctors, and employees of other essential services employees, Sharma said that the government was mulling a special proposal to provide a special ‘CA’ allowance to the teachers, doctors, and other essential service employees serving in remote areas.

“This will overcome the problem of shortage of employees,” he said.

Sharma said that the Rehbar-e-Taleem (ReT) scheme for the recruitment of teachers was brought to life by former chief minister and National Conference President Farooq Abdullah.
