Govt teacher suspended for corporal punishment to student in Kishtwar

Ramban, October, 5: A government teacher was suspended for corporal punishment to a fourth class student of Primary School Gowarian Dhar education Zone Inderwal of Kishtwar district on Saturday.

A video purportedly showing a student subjected to corporal punishment also went viral on local whatsapp groups, social media in Kishtwar.

Following which the Chief Education Officer, Kishtwar, Javed Ahmed Kitchloo ordered , suspended the teacher Anayatullah Ahanger – Grade – II teacher at Primary School Gowarian Dhar, Zone Inderwal. He has been allegedly found involved in corporal punishment to one of the ward of PS Gowarian Dhar in contravention to section 17 of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act, 2009, which is evident from the photos and videos circulated in social media. Pending further enquiry for his conduct, the said official is hereby placed under suspension in terms of rule 31 of Jammu and Kashmir civil services (classification, control & and appeal rules 1956), official stated.

During the suspension period, he shall remain attached to Middle School Lohidar Zone Inderwal.

A committee of three officers consisting of Deputy CEO, Masood Qazi, Principal HSS Chatroo, Vinod Kumar, and lecturer of HSS Boys, Kishtwar, Jagdish Chauhan has been constituted to conduct in-depth enquiry into the matter and submit the report with recommendation to the office of the Chief Education Officer, Kishtwar within weeks time.

Daljeet Singh Palsar, teacher, HSS Nagseni and Shami Sen, teacher HSS, Padder (resource person career guidance and general sanitization component) shall assist the enquiry committee, reads the suspension order issued by Chief Education Officer Kishtwar.
