Govt schools in rented accommodations

Hundreds of government schools are operating in rented private buildings. Most of these buildings do not have the required facilities, which a government school building usually provides.

The lack of facilities affects the woking atmosphere in such educational institutions. There is lack of space and a number of private buildings are said to be unsafe also.

Reports say that the government is providing crores of rupees every year for improving the infrastructure in schools.

There is an immediate need to construct new government buildings and shift these schools there. The government has enough land and this land should be utilised for establishing the government school buildings. Education of the children is of high importance and it should not suffer.

There should not be any problem in identifying the government land for construction of the school buildings. Providing of funds for this purpose should not be a problem. Adequate funds are being provided by the government for improving the infrastructure in schools.

Having new school buildings is a kind of improvement in the infrastructure. Efforts are being made for last several years to motivate parents to get their children admitted in government schools. A number of facilities are being provided to the school children for this purpose.

But such campaigns can prove fruitful when there is adequate infrastructure and facilities in schools. Having schools in government buildings with adequate space can help the campaign. Each class must have a separate classroom.There are also reports of some government school buildings not having adequate space.

The problem is affecting the normal work in the schools. Some schools do not have more than two or three rooms.

A number of classes function in open and when the weather conditions turn hostile, the classes are cancelled.

The students lose precious time. More room must be built in such government school buildings for having adequate space for the children and the staff.

The overall infrastructure in schools must be improved. Be it construction of new school buildings or construction of more rooms in the existing schools, steps should be taken in this direction.

Having toilet and drinking water facility is also important. And also important is having a library and a laboratory.
