Govt reconstitutes BoDs of J&K Cable Car Corporation
Srinagar, June 21: The Jammu and Kashmir government has reconstituted the Board of Directors (BoDs) of the Jammu and Kashmir Cable Car Corporation Limited, replacing all previous orders concerning its composition. The reconstitution was formalised through Government Order No. 760-JK(GAD) of 2025, issued by the General Administration Department on June 20.
As per the new order, the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir will serve as the Chairman of the Board. The restructured body includes senior officials from key departments such as Tourism, Finance, and Planning, as well as heads of associated public sector undertakings and technical departments. The move is seen as part of the administration’s effort to bring greater efficiency, coordination, and strategic oversight to the management and development of the Union Territory’s cable car infrastructure, which plays a vital role in tourism and transportation.
The Advisor to the Chief Minister, the Chief Secretary, and the Administrative Secretaries of the Finance and Tourism Departments have been included as directors. In addition, the Managing Directors of the J&K Tourism Development Corporation and the J&K Cable Car Corporation, along with the Directors of Tourism for Kashmir and Jammu and the Chief Engineers of the Power Distribution departments in both regions, are now part of the board. The Chief Executive Officer of the Gulmarg Development Authority has also been appointed as a director.
The Administrative Secretary of the Planning, Development and Monitoring Department, along with the Chief Engineers of the Mechanical Engineering Department and the Power Development Department (Maintenance), will participate as special invitees during board meetings.
The restructuring of the board is expected to enhance institutional synergy, streamline decision-making, and strengthen the functioning of cable car services in prominent tourist destinations like Gulmarg, which are central to Jammu and Kashmir’s tourism economy. The order was issued by M. Raju, IAS, Commissioner/Secretary to the Government, General Administration Department.
