Govt Medical College Baramulla Senior Consultant represents India at medical conference in South Korea
Baramulla, Mar 26: Dr Afak Sherwani, Senior Consultant at the Department of General & Minimal Access Surgery in Government Medical College, Baramulla, added another feather to his cap by participating in the 60th annual congress of the Korean Association of Hepato-Biliary Pancreatic Surgery (KAHBP) held in Seoul, South Korea.
At the conference, which saw the gathering of 745 surgeons from 48 countries, Dr Sherwani was not only invited to speak but also entrusted with the responsibility of moderating sessions.
Dr Afak Sherwani delivered a lecture during the Bilio-Pancreatic Symposium I and moderated the Bilio-Pancreatic Symposium III, focusing on laparoscopic procedures related to gallbladder diseases.
Being one of the representatives from India at this international forum, Dr Sherwani showcased the dedication and excellence of the surgical department at GMC Baramulla. His participation as both a speaker and a moderator in scientific sessions highlights not only his individual prowess but also the collective commitment of the department to advancing medical knowledge and practice.
The achievement garnered widespread recognition and accolades, with the Principal GMC Baramulla, Prof Dr Ruby Reshi, and the Medical Superintendent of the associated hospital, Dr Parvaiz Masoodi, extending heartfelt congratulations to the Department of Surgery.
Moreover, the support extended by Dr Syed Abid Rashid, Secretary Health & Medical Education and the Director of Health Services, Kashmir, played a crucial role in facilitating Dr Sherwani’s participation in the conference.
