Govt has zero-tolerance policy against terrorism in J&K: MoS Home Affairs
New Delhi, July 30: The government has reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy against terrorism, focusing on dismantling the terror ecosystem to maintain peace and stability in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Minister of State (MoS) for Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai, in a written reply in the Lok Sabha, detailed the strategies and actions undertaken to curb terrorism in the region, leading to a significant decline in terror incidents.
He said that the key strategies include effective and continuous actions including sustained operations targeting terrorists and their support networks.
Rai said that for dismantling the terror ecosystem, the government's approach to disbanding terror infrastructure is comprehensive.
He said in a crackdown on terror finance, seizing and attaching properties of terrorists and their associates, and banning anti-national organizations was done.
The minister said that the preventive operations include identifying and investigating strategic supporters of terrorism while strategies to thwart terrorist infiltration were being devised in multi-pronged infiltration prevention.
He said that for enhancing counter-insurgency, the counter-insurgency grid had been strengthened.
Rai said that for modernisation of security equipment, security apparatus was being upgraded and enhanced.
He said that round-the-clock strategic checkpoints were kept at critical locations.
The minister said that intensified operations including Cordon and Search Operations (CASO) were being conducted to tackle terrorist threats.
He said there was coordination among all security forces operating in Jammu and Kashmir for real-time intelligence sharing.
Rai said day and night area domination was helping in continuous monitoring and control of areas to prevent terrorist activities.
He said that these comprehensive measures had resulted in a marked decline in terror-related incidents.
The minister said that these efforts by the government have contributed significantly to reducing the incidence of terrorism and restoring normalcy in J&K.
