New Delhi, Dec 8: The government has confirmed that the 8th Central Pay Commission (CPC) has been formally constituted, Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary informed the Lok Sabha in a written reply on Monday. Responding to questions on the timelines and scope of the commission, the minister said the Terms of Reference (ToR) for the 8th CPC were notified on 3 November 2025. The panel is mandated to review the pay, allowances and pension structures of Central Government employees and pensioners.

Pankaj Chaudhary said the commission will recommend a revised pay structure benefiting around 50.14 lakh Central Government employees and 67.95 lakh pensioners.

He added that the government will make the necessary financial provisions to implement its accepted recommendations. The minister clarified that the 8th CPC has begun work and will devise its own methodology and procedure for formulating recommendations. As per the notification, the commission is required to submit its report within 18 months of its constitution.
