Kulgam, May 18: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education, Sakeena Itoo said the government was committed to public welfare and grassroots-level governance.

Conducting an extensive tour of various areas of Damhal Hanjipora (D H Pora) constituency to take firsthand stock of the public grievances and developmental requirements, Itoo while addressing the gatherings at multiple locations reiterated the governmentís commitment to grassroots-level governance and public welfare.

ìThis government is formed by the vote and trust of the people. It is our moral duty to remain accessible to the public and ensure that their issues are heard and addressed on priority,î she said. ìPublic service continues to be the core guiding principle of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah-led administration.î

During her day-long visit, the minister visited several villages and hamlets within the constituency, where she interacted with a cross-section of people including residents, mohalla committees and community representatives.

People brought to the ministerís notice a host of issues ranging from inadequate healthcare facilities, erratic power supply, poor road connectivity, drinking water shortage, to the lack of essential public services.

Residents also highlighted specific problems being faced by remote habitations and sought immediate redressal. The minister underscored the need for greater government-public engagement, noting that field visits by ministers are integral to ensuring transparency and accountability in governance.

ìPresence and responsiveness to public issues and concerns is the main motto of this government,î Itoo said.

She assured the people that all genuine issues raised during her visit would be taken up with the concerned departments for time-bound redressal.

The minister said that she would personally monitor the progress of works and follow up on the implementation of public demands raised during her tour.

Locals appreciated the ministerís outreach efforts and expressed hope that the visit would lead to meaningful interventions in the development landscape of the constituency.
