Pulwma, Nov 19: The Minister of Education, Health and Medical Education and Social Welfare Sakina Masood Itoo on Tuesday said that entire system was in disarray and it would take time to fix it.

“We are committed to serve you, but it will take some time to bring the system back on track and you have to cooperate with us,” said Sakina while addressing a gathering in south Kashmir’s Rajpora area.

Expressing her gratitude to the people for voting the National Conference to power, Sakina said that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had instructed them to engage with the people and address their grievances. “You have been through a tough time and there was nobody to listen to you. You were unable to come out of your homes and express yourselves. We are committed to serve you as much as possible,” she said.

The Minister said that the people had given their verdict in a decent and peaceful manner at a time when it was said that the NC would get only a few seats. Sakina urged the people to support the government and remain patient as it worked for them.

“The government’s achievements in just one month are substantial and worthy of praise,” said the Minister .

She said that she was holding crucial portfolios like health and social welfare, emphasising their potential to benefit people. “There is a dearth of doctors, but we recently appointed 300 doctors and posted 21 new doctors in Pulwama. Of these 15 have already joined their duties. I hope others will join soon,” informed the Minister.

Earlier, while visiting the District Hospital Pulwama, Sakina expressed satisfaction over the functioning of the facility. “The hospital provides excellent care to its patients, offering specialized services such as dialysis and treatment for cancer and other patients, ensuring good quality of healthcare,” she said. The Minister, however, said that she had been informed about the shortage of staff and overwhelming patient influx. “I will look into it and I hope the under-construction critical care hospital will be completed soon to help alleviate some strain,” she said. The Minister also said that she would work to establish an MRI facility at the hospital so that people did not need to go to Srinagar for it.
