Government mulls overpass at Mominabad junction to ease traffic congestion
Srinagar, Oct 20: Amid growing traffic mess at Mominabad junction, the Government is mulling to construct an overpass at the spot.
The commuters have been complaining that the junction is often witnesses traffic jams. They said such projects are going to help streamline the traffic in the area.
“The areas like Batamaloo, Mominabad junction, Sanatnagar, Hyderpora, Barzulla, and adjacent areas witness frequent traffic jams. Such initiatives will help. Footbridges, road widening and vehicle overpasses are going to help in these cases. During peak hours, we are often stuck in traffic jams in this area, and we hope these projects will help a lot,” said Arshid Ahmad, a commuter.
Officials from Traffic police said that with the addition of new flyovers, footbridges, and vehicle overpasses like these, traffic will witness ease to a great extent.
“There has been a huge volume of vehicles entering the roads on a daily basis. The infrastructure projects like these will have a positive impact on the overall issues. These projects aid in ease of traffic and help with better traffic management,” a senior traffic official said.
Ashaq Ahmad, Executive Engineer at R&Bs Project Division First, said that their division has submitted the DPR, and after approval, they will start working on the project.
“This vehicle overpass at Mominabad junction will be about 400 meters long. It will be a vital infrastructural addition at the junction. We have many projects in pipeline that will help in traffic decongestion on the vital junctions. We are only waiting for the approval nod, and the project will start soon,” he said.
