Governing body hails introduction of AI Course at SSM college
Srinagar, April 30:: The Governing Body of SSM College of Engineering on Wednesday convened its 22nd meeting- first as Autonomous College to review the working of the institution besides and other institutional activities.
The meeting was chaired in virtual mode by Former Vice-Chancellor Dr. D Y Patil University Pune Prof. (Dr.) P N Razdan who is also Principal Advisor Quality Assurance and Excellence Cell GEF, represented in the chair by Prof. (Dr.) Tehmina Yousuf Principal Islamia College of Science and Commerce Srinagar.
Besides Dr. G N Qasba former Commissioner SMC Senior Advisor IRADs, Roma Wani, Former Member National Managing Body (Red Cross Society), Prof. (Dr.) M A Shah Dean Alumni and International Affairs NIT Srinagar, Prof. (Dr.) MRD Kundangar Former Director LAWDA, Dr. Qazi Shabir Ahmad CMD, Dilafrose Qazi Chairperson, Haya Tramboo Chairperson Salvatore International School and other Governing Body members from the College.
The agenda of the meeting was put before the Governing Body by Prof. (Dr.) N A Shah Registrar of the Institution which was discussed item-wise in detail and decisions were taken accordingly.
Prof. (Dr.) PN Razdan while discussing various issues appreciated the efforts of the College Management for being conferred as Autonomous College by the University Grants Commission.
He also applauded the college for Introducing B.Tech course in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and B.Tech. course in Computer Engineering for Working Professional and in this behalf gave some valuable suggestions for making the courses more effective to enhance overall academic ambience as an autonomous college.
He stressed upon the need to go in for the Research Projects and avail other schemes of AICTE/UGC for overall interest of the students.
On the occasion Prof. (Dr.) Tehmina Yousuf advised some measures which to help the institute in achieving success in meeting its goals as an Autonomous Institute.
Dr. G.N. Qasba suggested the college authorities to go for short-term courses in order to enhance skill of the students.
Roma Wani advised that the institute should go for an MOU with various agencies for running skill-based programmes in collaboration.
Prof. MRD Kundangar and Prof. (Dr.) M A Shah suggested some changes in various Committees framed by the Institute.
The meeting also discussed prospects and modus-operandi for implementation of NEP-2020 by way of including the same in the curriculum.
The Chairperson of the Institute in her vote of thanks expressed her gratitude to the members of the Governing Body for giving valuable suggestions and assured them that follow-up action will be taken accordingly.
