Gousia Colony inhabitants decry drainage failure

Srinagar, May 2:  Residents of Gousia Colony of Bagh-e-Mehtab have expressed resentment over failure of authorities to restore drainage system in the area.

A delegation from the area said that the recent incessant rains inundated the road leading from Chanpora Byepass to Baghi Mehtab via Gousia Colony. More than three feet of storm water has been accumulated on the road and entered premises of residents. We had also apprised the concerned authorities but no action was taken,” they said.

The residents said that ERA constructed an underground storm water drain in the area over a decade ago. “But it is a complete failure. We urge authorities to drain out the standing waters at the earliest,” they said.
