Gopal Vittal takes helm as acting Chair of GSMA Board
Srinagar, Feb 3: Gopal Vittal, Vice Chairman & Managing Director of Bharti Airtel, has been appointed Acting Chair of the GSMA board following the resignation of José Maria Álvares-Pallete, Chairman & CEO of Telefónica.
With a strategic leadership background, Vittal brings extensive telecommunications experience to the role. Previously serving as Deputy Chair and a board member during the 2019-2020 term, he is well-positioned to guide the global telecommunications industry association.
GSMA represents a robust ecosystem of over 1,100 companies, including telecom service providers, device manufacturers, software companies, equipment providers, and organizations from adjacent industry sectors. Vittal's appointment ensures continued strategic direction for this expansive and critical global network.
