Gojwara residents voice anger over long-neglected road
Srinagar, Mar 19: Residents of the Malik Sahib area in Gojwara Srinagar are expressing growing frustration over the severely deteriorated condition of their link road, which they claim has remained unrepaired for more than a decade.
A delegation of local residents told Greater Kashmir that the road's numerous deep potholes create significant difficulties for both vehicles and pedestrians navigating through this densely populated residential area.
"This link road has been in a deplorable condition for years, and no government agency has addressed the issue despite our repeated pleas. The road serves a congested residential area where hundreds of households suffer daily because of its poor state," said a resident who has lived in the area for over 15 years.
Residents report that they have repeatedly urged authorities to either blacktop the road or install paving tiles to provide some relief from the hazardous conditions. They expressed particular concern about elderly residents and others who must navigate the damaged road to attend prayers at dawn and after sunset.
"Worshippers, including elderly people and children, face extreme difficulty when going for prayers during early morning hours and after nightfall. The poor road condition also causes significant waterlogging during rainy seasons, compounding our problems and occasionally making the road completely impassable," explained another resident.
The deteriorated road also contributes to traffic congestion in the broader Gojwara area, as vehicles slow down to navigate around the numerous potholes.
