GOI appoints Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi as Chief Of Army Staff; shall assume office on 30th June

Srinagar, June 11: The Government of India on Tuesday appointed Lt General Upendra Dwivedi as next Chief Of the Army Staff (COAS). His position, the government said will be in effect from the afternoon of 30th June 2024.

Dwivedi will be replacing the present Army Chief, General Manoj C Pande who will be leaving the office on the same date, that is on 30th June 2024, read an official handout from the Defence Ministry.

Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi presently serves as Vice Chief of the Army Staff.

Dwivedi, who is born on 1st July 1964 is decorated with Param Vishisht Seva Medal (PVSM) and Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) while he also has three GOC-in-C commendation cards.
