Srinagar, Sep 6: The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Friday issued an amendment to the guidelines for the transfer and posting of Indian Forest Service (IFS) officers in the Joint AGMUT cadre.

As per the order, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh have been categorised as ‘Hard Areas’ (Category B) due to the merger of the J&K cadre into the AGMUT cadre.

Category B also includes Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and Lakshadweep.

As per the order, the Regular or Soft Zones (Category B) areas include Goa, union territories of Chandigarh, Daman and Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Puducherry.

“Consequent upon the merger of the J&K cadre into AGMUT cadre, the need to revise the guidelines was felt. As per the recommendations of the Joint Cadre Authority for the Indian Forest Service of AGMUT cadre and with the approval of competent authority, the Union Territory of J&K and the Union Territory of Ladakh are hereby categorised as category B (hard areas) in the joint AGMUT cadre," the order reads.

It reads that in partial modification of paragraph 4 of the guidelines for transfer and posting of IFS officers of the Joint AGMUT Cadre-2019, the segments of the AGMUT cadre have been classified into two categories, regulator soft area and hard area.
