GoC Northern Command reviews operational readiness in north Kashmir
Srinagar, Nov 10: In the aftermath of the recent Keran encounter where two terrorists were neutralised, Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command, visited forward areas in North Kashmir to review the anti-infiltration grid and assess the overall operational preparedness of formations deployed along the Line of Control (LoC).
Accompanied by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) Chinar Corps, Lieutenant General Prashant Srivastava, Lt Gen Sharma was briefed by field commanders on the prevailing security scenario, counter-infiltration measures, and ongoing efforts to maintain the sanctity of the LoC.
During his visit, the Army Commander interacted with troops deployed in challenging terrain, commending their professionalism, high morale, and dedication to safeguarding the nation’s frontiers.
Referring to the recent success in the Keran sector, Lt Gen Sharma lauded the troops for their “swift and precise response” that led to the elimination of two heavily armed infiltrators. He emphasised the need for constant operational vigilance and preparedness in view of emerging security challenges, reiterating the Army’s commitment to ensuring peace and stability in the region.
