Srinagar, Sep 1: Lieutenant General M V Suchindra Kumar, Army Commander Northern Command, on Sunday inaugurated the "Gul-A-Seum," a state-of-the-art Gulmarg Army Museum in skir-resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir.

This initiative is seen not only as a tribute to the rich heritage but also a step towards enhancing the tourist experience in one of Kashmir's most popular destinations.

The museum, aptly named "Gul-A-Seum," serves as a testament to the valour, sacrifice, and enduring spirit of the Armed forces. The facility boasts an extensive collection of artifacts, documents, and interactive displays, meticulously curated to offer visitors an immersive journey through the cultural heritage of Kashmir.

The museum showcases Kashmir's unique traditions, art, and historical milestones, alongside the pivotal role played by the Indian Armed Forces in nation-building.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by several dignitaries, including the Commander of the Chinar Corps Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai, as well as civil officials. Speaking at the event, Lt Gen M V Suchindra Kumar called on the importance of preserving and celebrating Kashmir’s rich history.

The "Gul-A-Seum" features a wide array of exhibits that chronicle Kashmir’s past, from its ancient traditions to modern developments. Visitors can explore interactive displays that bring to life the stories of Kashmir’s artistic achievements, cultural practices, and the historic events that have shaped the region. Additionally, the museum dedicates significant space to commemorating the contributions of the Indian Armed Forces, showcasing their role in safeguarding the nation and aiding in the development of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department, along with the Ministry of Defence, has lauded the establishment of the "Gul-A-Seum," seeing it as a valuable addition to Kashmir’s tourism infrastructure.
