GOC-in-C arrives in Kashmir

Srinagar, Oct 25: In the aftermath of Thursday’s Butapathri terror attack, Lt Gen M V Suchindra Kumar, the Northern Army Commander (Army Cdr NC), visited the Chinar Corps headquarters to assess the operational and combat readiness of forces in valley.

During the visit, Lt Gen Kumar was briefed on the security architecture by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Chinar Corps Lt Gen Prashant Srivastava . The focus was on countermeasures that have been bolstered to neutralize emerging threats and secure sensitive areas along the Line of Control (LoC) and in hinterland of Kashmir.

The meeting underscored the commitment to an advanced and multi-layered security strategy aimed at thwarting attempts by infiltrators and anti-national elements, especially following the Butapathri incident.

The visit comes against the backdrop of the Butapathri terror attack, where two brave soldiers, Riflemen Kaisar Ahmad Shah and Jeevan Singh, were killed in the line of duty.

The Dhruva Command, under Lt Gen Kumar’s leadership, conveyed solidarity with the families of the fallen soldiers. Lt Gen Kumar expressed deep admiration for their courage, stating, “Their supreme sacrifice will not be forgotten, and the Army stands resolute alongside their families in this hour of grief.”

In a move to strengthen operational readiness, Lt Gen Kumar was also briefed by Chinar Corps’ medical team, the “Chinar Healers,” on the latest trauma care kits developed to address battlefield injuries promptly and effectively

“Our commitment to operational effectiveness and vigilance remains unwavering,” Lt Gen Kumar said. “The complexities of the security environment necessitate an agile and responsive approach.”
